Meet Your Instructor

Kerry-Ann Reid-Brown

I launched my first podcast January 2015. But I spent almost 2 years in a mix of fear, research and overwhelm. Nobody else I knew had any idea what a podcast was, much less launch one. Throughout the years, I’ve spoken with “experts” who either told me that my content could apply to anyone and to not focus on my niche; or my niche wasn’t big enough and it’s not making me the type of money it could. I was struggling because in my heart I knew where I wanted to focus, but the “experts” said otherwise. Almost 7 years later, I feel extremely proud that since then, the podcast has grown and is recognized as a place where people find Caribbean vibes and thoughtful dialogue around culture, heritage, career, entrepreneurship and just everyday life that make up the duality of the Caribbean American experience. The podcast has been featured 4 times in Apple Podcast and received numerous recognitions and awards. Plus, the audience I wanted to focus on didn't have anyone else creating a podcast with them in mind. It was a huge leap of faith, but on January 13, 2015 I released my first 2 episodes of Carry On Friends The Caribbean American Podcast. When I started podcasting, I knew I wanted to focus on my Caribbean American niche. In 2018, I started Breadfruit Media where I produce podcasts for media houses, entrepreneurs, corporations and consult with many who want to get into the podcasting space. I have also been asked to share my expertise and knowledge in niche spaces like the Caribbean Diaspora. I have spoken at podcast industry conferences such Podcast Movement and have hosted workshops on “How-to-Podcast.”
